Hard Drive not seen by MacBook

My HD recently crashed and I purchased a new Hitachi 1TB drive. I installed the unit in the MacBook and it would not read. I subsequently installed in another MacBook I have and was able to successfully load the drive and perform a Time Machine recovery.

I have now taken the drive out and re-installed it in the original MacBook wish suffered the hard drive crash. It still will not recognize that the drive is installed.

What might be the problem and what should I attempt to diagnose. Note: the pins on the drive connector do not appear to be damaged in any way.

13" aluminium unibody?

If so most likely the hard drive cable connecting to the logic board.

This is a 2007 model that has a black poly-carbonite case. There do not appear to be any connectors that are unattached. I am wondering if the board has gone bad? If so is the unit worth repairing?
