Hi

I just got a brand new macbook pro 15 inch 2.53 ghz with the 250 gb, 5400 rpm hard drive. It sound like hard drive is parking and unparking (clicking) a lot when the computer is a idle or just sitting at the desk top. Is this normal, and how do you stop it?

Also, how do you update firmware, does the computer automatically do it? I have boot version MBP53.00AC.B03 and SMC Version (system): 1.49f2. I have tried downloading firmware but the computer tells me I dont need it.

I am new to mac so go easy on me.

Thanks!

Click the apple logo on the top left and run software update, if there is an update for your specific computer, it'll be shown there, you do not need to search for it like on windows.

As far as the hard drive goes, I hear it's pretty common with the 13'' MBPs.
