hey guys,

my friend told me to take a look at his powerbook G4 and his hard drive needs replacing. being that i am relatively new to the Mac scene i am only familiar with the Macbook and Macbook pro generation. After doing some research online i picked out this hard drive as a replacement:

I just want to make sure this will work in the powerbook before i go ahead and get it. he has the 1.67ghz, 1gb ram, aluminum Powerbook G4, 15"

Thanks. if thats the wrong one can you guys please suggest one that will work. Or if there is anything at a better price with the same or more capacity i would appreciate that too.

It will work just fine but I prefer this one. I just prefer Seagate over WD, but it's just personal preference.

Cheers,

Get the biggest one they make. It runs faster than the 160gb, because of size. As fast as the 100gb 7200 rpm drives...

get the Western Digital 250gb 5400rpm. They are cheap now. Biggest ide Pata drive made.

Again, I'd suggest a Seagate. Much better drives overall.

Also, heres a handy guide I used when I change the HDD in my Powerbook G4

I can;t believe it, but my Powerbook G4 from late 2004 just had an utter and fatal hard drive wreck! @$@#$!! Luckily it isn't my main computer and nothing was seriously lost... just needs a new drive.

I ordered the 160GB Seagate and tools. That repair guide is amazing! Now I can't to get it back in order and running.
