Hard Drive renames itself

I have a G4 iMac 24" screen and I noticed a couple of months ago that the hard drive icon had no name under it, just an empty blue field. I renamed it "Hard Drive" but yesterday I noticed it renamed itself "kuyhytw". Is this a serious problem and how do I correct it?

Maybe it is trying to tell you something!

Are you sure you aren't accidentally changing it? If you select it and press Enter it would allow you to rename it. Seems odd.

The letters vaguely move from right to left across the keyboard. Do you have a cat that might have walked across your keyboard?

I don't have a cat....

but I do have a beagle. She's pretty smart and I've been wondering how her picture keeps popping up on my desktop. Seriously this is probably human error.
