hi, I dont know how even search this, I have around 10 Hard Drives (I use one single hd enclousure) so I need a app to read each by one and save a list of the content inside each, so of that way I search a file and I go to X hard drive to access.

you know like search in the HD and make a record of all the contents.

any app for that? I remember one in the 90s in windows that I use... of course now use mac.

thanks

Yes, Print Window. http://searchwaresolutions.com
There's a free standard edition, and you can pay if you want a bunch of extras.

You can choose a folder, or an entire hard drive, and it will build a list of what it contains. It's pretty customizable, and you have a bunch of options.

It's designed to print the contents, but I choose "Save to PDF" instead of sending it to the printer, and since the PDF it generates is searchable you can find anything on the disk almost immediately. It's fast, and only takes a few seconds to list thousands of items.

that looks so great but! it would bice dont export anything... just keep in the database, you know like enter in the app and search a file, so the app say "hey yes I found that file, is in the hard drive #4"
I remember a app many years ago in windows that do that. I keep in that time all my CDR's organizated, so just search a file and I go to the disc that the app says.

OK, then, there's DiskCatalogMaker

http://diskcatalogmaker.com

This one gives you a 30 day free trial, but it's not free after that.

yes! that looks even better, the question is, that read a whole HD? I dont need for CDs... I go to download and see, thanks ;)

I forgot to mention this, but it comes included with Toast Titanium (disc burning software). If you have that, then you also already have DiskCatalogMaker.
