hi

i have had my mbp since last june and have treated it like the black sheep off the family ever since. finally deciding to get the mpb back into the shape it deserves, i transferred the contents of my full hdd to an external hdd and conducted a system restore. to my suprise my 160gb hdd now appears as being 148.73gb, and after the full system restore / tiger install - 130gb appears to be free.

im not sure if this how its supposed to be and tiger does indeed take up this space or if i have lost some hdd space along the way??

any help would be greatly appreciated ...

A 160GB hard drive is around 148GB when it is formatted, so you haven't lost space. A full system restore can take a hefty chunk (Garageband demo songs, printer drivers, languages, etc.) so that sounds about right.
