I'm thinking about upgrading my MBP 15" duo-core 2.66ghz model with the newer i7 2.6; and I was wondering if the hard drive can simply be swapped into the new MBP and work without any negative repercussions.

Thanks
Joe

If I remember correctly, as long as the hard drive has the latest version of OS X installed, the switch shouldn't have any problems. Once you swap it in, just run a system update and everything should be great. Of course, do a backup beforehand in case something goes wrong.

Is your older laptop SATA or ATA? (you can find specs through the System Preferences.
