I have a 2009 MBP and I am going to get a new 2011 MBP. Is it possible to just swap the hard drives and everything will be just gravy? I assume they are the same hard drive..

Basically I have a lot of stuff on this computer and don't want to go through the hassle of transferring everything.. If I just through in my current hard drive to the new mac will it boot up just like my computer is now?

I am changing computers because of many reasons.. the speed bump, 15" down to 13" and physical problems with my current one..

The HDD will fit physically, and if the OS on the old HDD is at least 10.6.7, then you can swap the HDDs, as 10.6.7 has all the drivers for the 2011 MBPs.

I currently have 10.6.8..

I just don't want to go through all the trouble of switching over and installing software etc.. besides my current HDD is larger than the stock..

That might be my easiest option, because i have heard mixed reviews of migration assistant especially with software.
