Hello everyone.

I have an early 2006 17 inch MBP with a 2.16 Core Duo. I am planning to upgrade the 120 GB HD to something with a bit more room and think I have everything squared away except for a question about the interface. The system profiler says the MPB is equipped with a SATA 1.5 Gb/s interface. I did a search on New Egg and OWC for larger drives with that interface and only came up with a rather small (and inadequate selection). I found a huge selection of drives with a SATA 3.0 Gb/s interface. So my Question is: Is the SATA 3.0 Gb/s backwards compatible with the 1.5 Gb/s interface? Can I buy a spacious SATA 3.0 Gb/s drive and will it work in my MBP?

Thanks!
