Hi

I have a 1TB iomega usb 2.0 external hard drive that will not mount. First it is formatted correctly, it was working recently but it just stopped I think due to improper device removal. When I open up disk utility the drive shows but there is no longer a partition showing. When I type " ls -l /Volumes " into terminal this appears -

d--x--x--x 3 root admin 102 20 Jan 11:51 DENT1
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 1 20 Jan 11:47 Macintosh HD -> /

DENT1 drive is the one that won't mount or show in disk utility.

Can anyone help with this I will check the thread throughout the day.

I have also uploaded a picture of what disk utility looks like.

Thanks

Denis Gillen

I wonder if running chmod 775 DENT1 while in the Volumes directory would let you see it or if the permissions are too damaged?

Cheers,

How would i go about doing this is the terminal comand " chmod 775 /Volumes/DENT1 " if so it says operation not permitted.

Thanks

Not sure about that, have you tried repairing permissions on the missing drive or perhaps move this ? to the OS X section.

Cheers,
