Hi,

I have the latest mac, core i7 with 8gb ram and a 7200rpm internal 750 gb hard drive. I am new to photography and video editing. I am wanting a hard drive firstly that can be used for video editing, probably on the premier pro (adobe) system, as i get student pricing on it, so it works out reasonable to get the entire master suite, for around 400 pounds. Secondly my mac's hard drive is full of media files like videos, etc. So i need the ability to transfer them to a hard drive, that then is backed up in case it fails.

I'm guessing i need two different hard drives, one on a raid 0 setup for video editing, something like the caldigit vr 4tb, or ideally something a bit cheaper like a western digital setup, and a second one on a raid 1 setup or manually combining two hard drives for the media setup/backup.

I'm looking for advice on what to buy cheaply. At the moment, the western digital version costs about 180 pounds for a 2TB setup suitable for video editing, and then for media storage I'm looking at 2 x 160 = 320 pounds for the media storage, without even using a NAS. So, my total cost would be 320+180 = 500 pounds right now. Anyone follow what i'm trying to accomplish, able to give me advice on how to cut down that 500 cost, or advising i spend more than this. I'm very interested and appreciative in getting advice on how to meet my video editing and media storage / backup needs. Sorry if my post isn't right for any reason, as this is my first post here.
