I have been looking at 2TB hard drives, for my photos(.jpgs,.tiffs, & .NEF RAW files plus movie files from my digicams).

I would like to use a pair; one for a main drive at home & one for offsite backup. I will get just the drives to put in my own enclosures, OWC mercury & macally. So I will get 72rpm desktop drives to put in my enclosures.

I see more drives with 32mb cache than 64mb cache.

I would also like my hard drive to be cross platform & work with older OS's like windows XP.

Will it make a critical difference for me wheather I get a drive with 32mb buffer or 64mb buffer?

I will be using the drives via firewire on my macbook pro.
