Hi all..

Thinking of buying a new hard drive. Whichever one, will be 7,200 rpm )mainly getting it for movies and to hold my itunes library), and be internal/primary use in my macbook pro.

I've gone though several in the past, while some not so lucky like some WD.

ANy recommendations on best brands? eg Hitachi, Seagate or Samsung. ?

or should I go for WD ? and being used to hold Itunes library should it be over 750 Gig ?, as standard i was thinking 500.

Need some more information please

Is this for your primary hard drive i.e. going into the Mac or external?
How big is your itunes collection?
What is your budget?
Are you after a 2.5 or a 3.5 HDD

All hard drives can fail - I have lost Seagate / Western Digital hard drives from failures....back up is always the key!

online, time capsule, or other nas... you have quite a few options with back up

If I were you I would look into that 500gb one by seagate which includes a 4gb ssd in there, it's really great as people are saying and it's os agnostic, that of course if you are putting it in the mac. It's not 3.5" though, and it could be considered rather small.

3tb beast from seagate is also a good option for sheer size.
