Hi guys,

Can anyone help? I have a 2015 13 MBPr which works an absolute treat, aside from on occasion I get a hard freeze (macOS locks up, audio stops, cursor frozen and caps light does not work) Holding power button will shut the machine off, and upon restart Catalina recognises it was shutdown due to a problem but I get no further detail.

There seems to be no consistency to when it happens, aside from it is maybe when WiFi is under load (has happened most frequently when in a FaceTime call while Airplay to TV is enabled)

Does anyone know how to interpret logs to suggest what might be at fault?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I've got a 2015 MBP with the same issue. I bought my MBP in 2015 and it came with El Capitan. I've had the cursor freezing problem for many, many years. Now (with Big Sur) the sound cuts out when the cursor freezes. It's super annoying. The cursor freezing problem started after I updated my operating system. And, of course, no one knows why the cursor is freezing. If you ask me, upgrading an operating system is a path toward issues that can only be resolved by buying the latest MBP. Funny how that works out huh? The best option is to never upgrade your OS.
