"hard reset" and erase phone?

Hey guys,

Is there a way to hard reset and erase the information on an iPhone without connecting it to anything?

I need to take my phone by Apple tomorrow as there appears to be a piece of dust under the glass. If they offer to replace, I obviously want to ensure the phone I turn in is blank. Does the 'Reset all settings' button accomplish this?

i used the erase all settings and content on my touch and it took well over an hour to perform. if you can, it will actually take less time to download/install iTunes on a computer and then download and restore the firmware.

i do not know if the settings on the iphone will undo a jailbreak
