Toddler locked my wife's Apple Watch with too many failed passcode attemps and I can't find a way to reset it so I can pair it again. Force touch is gone so the reset steps here do not work anymore https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/force-restart-your-apple-watch/. Any ideas on how I can pair it again?

  1. Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off screen.

  2. Hard press the Power Off slider and then let go.

  3. Tap Erase all content and settings.

  4. You'll be asked to set up your Apple Watch again when the process ends. When you do, be sure to restore from a backup.

Newer instructions from Apple:

If you can’t access the Settings app on your Apple Watch because you’ve forgotten your passcode, put your Apple Watch on its charger, then press and hold the side button until you see Power Off. Press and hold the Digital Crown, then tap Reset.

After the reset finishes and your Apple Watch restarts, you need to pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone again—open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, then follow the instructions shown on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

You want to make sure that tour watch is connected to power when force touching on the slider. I find it that sometimes it works and others it doesn’t.
If that does not work for you, just go to iCloud.com and remove the watch from your wife’s iCloud account.
