I like to do the Hard Reset (Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.) every now and then and thought it was OK and safe / good to to clear out things.

Starting with 4.3.3 every now and then when I would do it it woould restore some of my settings back to factory settings. Ever since 5.0 came out it didn't then a few days before 5.0.1 it did it again.

I had my iPhone 3GS at a genius bar to check my battery and asked them about it and they just said a Hard reset is not something you want to do all the time only when your iPhone freezes, it could do more harm then good.

Is this True?

Thanks
