Gen 1 Nano (perfect condition, battery life is fine) :
Hard reset is possible (by holding the center and upper buttons simultaneously), so these two buttons must work. HOWEVER, neither of the buttons when I press them one at a time.
This started happening after I left it sitting in a drawer for a year (it was replaced by the iPhone). I have tried several software restores and nothing helps. How can this make sense? Could the backup copy of my "last successful" firmware (the one used for the restore) be corrupted without iTunes realizing it? If so, how can I get a fresh one?
