Harddrive won't sleep!

Ever since I have installed maverick, my external drive that is connected to my Thunderbolt display via firewire won't sleep! It runs all the time when the computer is on often times gets really hot.

Anyone know how to fix this? Never happened with Mountain Lion :/

It's a known problem with no solution yet. TB and FW both affected. Some say USB is OK but I haven't tested that.
