I just installed FileZilla on my MBP to be used to manage a VPS.
Advanced support from my web host blocked the FTP ports and app, and said that I could use SSH via cPanel - whatever that means.
They also said all I had to do was install FileZIlla, and then choose Port 22, enter my cPanel username and password, and would be ready to SFTP stuff to my VPS.
However, when I look at all of the settings under FileZilla > Settings, I feel overwhelmed!!
If there are any security or system admin types out there, I would appreciate an overview of what FileZilla settings might need to be changed to keep me and my MBP and my VPS secure!!
I have this fear of sending things like passwords in plain-text, or saving session-data or uploads in some temporary place that others might later find?!
(*NOTE: I have been searching for some security guides online, but am not really finding much.)
Thanks,
Debbie
