Hardrive recognized as smaller when doing a fresh install

My G4 graphite is acting strange, I put in a hard drive the size of 160 GB, yet when trying to install mac os x server it reads it as thirty, what would cause this dillemma?

I think some of the older G4s have a 138gb hard drive limit on them.
Im pretty sure there is a work around, search around on google and on here and im sure you can find a fix for that.
