I've been looking at the photos of the disassembled iPT and I'm wondering what will happen if you run the iPT without the glass screen. The photo here shows what I'm talking about: http://www.ifixit.com/Parts/stream/5/large/19-1.jpg

If you disconnect the glass cover/screen (shown on the right) am I correct that that would disable to touch capability of the device? It would still function as a video player but you wouldn't have protection or touch-interface, right?
 
Sounds right to me, though I have to question your motivation...

I thought that these devices would be a great inexpensive display for video art. If I can put the video on a loop then it would be perfect without the touchscreen. It seems I can't even put videos on a loop though! Crap!
