I’ve seen 1,000 posts where people recommend their hidden gems software; applications or games that are often overlooked for one reason or another and deserve a second look.

I’d like to see if anybody has any hardware hidden gems.

Any adaptors, dongles, peripherals, storage options, or anything else that you absolutely love and think others might enjoy also?

Weird little hardware gems are a personal favourite to find and test. I’d love to hear of any you know of!

“Hidden gem” being a lose term, mine would be:
  • Ember mug - BT enabled heated mug. Keeping my coffee/tea piping hot while I work is wonderful.
  • Artek keyboard - This little thing provides an unreasonably good typing experience for a sub-$40 keyboard.

My wife got me an Ember mug last year for my birthday. I thanked her, but thought "what kind of unnecessary idiocy is this?"... now, ten months, later I love it. I have used it every day since I got it... works perfectly... even bought an extra charging base - I keep one next to my Keurig (over night charging) and one on my desk for when I need to recharge during the day.

My two favorite additions to my office set up (in addition to the Ember mug) are
  1. IKEA Skadis pegboard (link) that is mounted to the right of my desk and has everything I need handy and organized
  2. Monitor light bar. I know there are name brands that can cost over $100 USD, but I got a cheap one off of Amazon for about $35 (link). It's a game changer for me.

I’ve been meaning to get these but haven’t gotten around to it…
Gonna get both tomorrow - thanks!
