hardware mixer / software mixer on mac 2013 retina 13' - to record podcasts

hi guys
do i need to buy a sound mixer (any good budget ones with fader) if i need it

or is there a software that will allow me to do what a mixer does?

i want to be able to play music / sfx / record a skype interview etc aswell my own voice via a microphone connected to my macbook

is there any good software which will allow me to record all these sources, or will i need a hardware (sound mixer)

please advise?
