My old iPhone had a problem once in a while where it was on top brightness and was drastically dim but still display itself at top brightness. I see my iPhone 13 does not have this problem. Was this a hardware problem?

I’m pretty sure that’s because the phone gets too hot. Hence the auto dim. Were you Doing anything in particular when it happens?

It happens in cool areas as well as hot cars. I mean when it happened last Saturday I was in a hot car, but it has happened in cool areas.

Phone can still overheat in cool areas. I’ve had it happen before. What you are describing is the side-effect of an overheating phone.
