Hello mac enthusiasts, I am yet to purchase my first mac but have been following mac news for 2 years now. The time as finally come for me to buy, but i'm stuck... I wish to buy an imac 2.93Ghz 24" but worry that it cant handle the intensive process of editing AVCHD. So i'm asking:

Would an imac 2.93ghz core 2 duo with 4GB of ram be able to edit AVCHD files from a canon HF100 or even a HF11?

Also, if anyone else uses these cameras, what set up do you have and what would oyu recomend? (please dont mention a quad core mac pro)

Thanks in advance,Hayzie

If you are editing using any of Apple's products you don't have to worry about editing AVCHD nativly because they all transcode it into AIC or ProRes (ProRes is only if you have FCP).

thats brilliant news!so even the 2.66 processor will suffice? would the rendering imes be the only thing which would suffer if i opted for the 2.66ghz imac?
