Hi,
Long story short:
-water spill
-left it out to dry for 4 days.
-would not start up on battery
-disconnected battery and very slowly started up with power cord
-water patches behind screen, diagonal line of pixel gone weird also
-didn't use it for another 2 days.
-most water patches gone, reconnected battery and it now recognise it. charges normally.
-reset PRAM and SMC, and it now seems to be functioning ok.
Did a hardware test to see if anything popped up. Did the normal one and it appeared to be fined. Doing the extended one as am writing this post to see if anything comes up.
There are clear traces of corrosion on the mother-board. What would you recommend doing? washing the different affected areas with the 90% alcohol I've read on other posts then let it be? The pixels on the screen are a bummer but I find myself quite lucky to only have this not working, as others were not as lucky.
It's a 17" MBP with 16Go RAM, and have been using it for my video edits, VFX etc... which uses a lot of the hardware when rendering clips. I wouldn't want a project to go to waste. Any recommendation would come in handy.
Note that I live in the middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains, so I don't have access to repair shops. Anything will have to be the DIY way. It's still under warranty, but am afraid by sending it to Apple they'll see straight up that water came in.
thanks heaps for the help
Ciarán
