Anyone know how to rock out an Apple hardware test, I want to find out whether or not my G5 knows it has an optical drive or not, it won't read anything, ejects fine but no spinning, worked yesterday.....system profiler says last run on 22/08/05 but power-on self test run on 08/08/06, today...hook me up, I'm about to cry, gotta get this thing figured out.....

plus my ipod died today.....crap

hardware test cd

so I've tried the hardware test cd that came with the computer, first time I've done this, I'm getting an image of an OSX HD, a forward arrow and a revers arrow, should I also be getting a cd image here, I'm not hearing anything spinning.....if I press forward it just reboots the computer to the desktop, rewind seems to refresh the selection option(s).......

hardware test seems to dedicate for memory, logic board. it can't catch hard drive failure at all. but I still doubt how much this test could be accurate.
