There were rumours not too long ago that Apple would include some form of video encoding in their next systems and with the Apple TV, iPhone and of course the iPod now all requiring video encoding, it has become an important part of Apple's product line-up.

Interestingly someone has released a new USB dongle which can actually do this.

So based on this (and its price etc.), what do you think the chances of it appearing internally any time soon is?

Is there been any development with this 'AVIVO' feature of ATi GPUs?

EDIT: I've just noticed that this is Elgato and although Apple really should have video input for iMacs, it's still letting them fill in that void.

Personally, I'd really like to see this happen and based on the wait, I'd like to believe there's more instore than just Leopard and Santa Rosa now.
