Hardware VPN Dropping Idle Connections

My company recently received a hardware VPN box from another company so that we could securely access their remote services. For a lot of the work I do, I log into their Linux box via ssh and work there. I also have MacFUSE setup so that their file system is mounted locally on my MacBook Pro. The problem I'm having is that any time either an X11 window or the file system has been left idle for 10 minutes or so, the connection is dropped and I have to log in again. Does anyone know of a setting in Snow Leopard that handles this kind of thing?
