My new Time Capsule is hot, silly hot for no reason except probably some cheap power supply that stays on full blast whether power is needed or not.
This is a waste of energy for green Apple, a waste of my money and will shorten the life of the device.
So, what to do? You know what co-generation is: I simply mounted a room fan behind the unit. It blows over the capsule and out into the living area and warms up the entire house, all 37,000 square feet, including 18 bathrooms, cools down the capsule and will save me the normal $3000 monthly heating bill.
Or, is there at least a way to boost the fan speed or turn it off when not in use?
Seriously, I read someplace that power supplies, power bricks and such consume some huge amount of energy, equivalent to a bunch of power plants. Supposedly, there are smart-bricks, but of course they cost pennies per unit to make, so they don't.
