Taking an American bought iPhone and using it with the O2 network in the UK? I want to buy an iPhone while I am living in the US and I will use it with AT&T, but next fall I will be moving to the UK so I would have to switch carriers.

Does anyone taken an iPhone from the US to the UK and tried to use it with the authorized carrier O2 over there? I don't want to get a phone and then have it turn into a paperweight in 9 months.

To do that you will homehow need to grab a hold of an o2-iphone specific SIM, as thats how I believe they work. If you can do that, I imagine you might be home free, but if it's a regular o2 SIM... I'm of the feeling it just wont work until there is an unlock solution.

you don't need an iPhone specific sim...just a blank unused one

that's what i've got.

US handset, 1.1.1, activated with jailbreak me and then unlocked with the pre-installed AnySim app.
