Has anyone actually seen an Apple Retail store go out of stock on launch day?

I know for sure the store in renton WA did NOT go out of stock on the release date. But I think many stores did.

Not what I'm talking about.

I'm referring to walk-ins with no pre-order. Apple Retail stores no doubt have stock that is allocated to walk-ins and that isn't part of pre-order inventory.

It'll happen this year...unless Apple can really ramp up production...assuming that the demand today was any indication of the number of walk-ins.

I saw it during the 3G launch at somerset mall in troy MI
Further back in the line from me (but not by much, I got lucky!) I overheard Apple store employees telling everyone from a certain point onward that they wouldn't have phones for them
