I've had 320 7200 RPM drive in my late '08 MBP.
Running both OSX and Fusion at the same time...

New 13' coming in.

The SSD's in my AIR just fly...but that's more a general travel/light duty box I use.

Debating whether to just run with the 320GB 7200 RPM drive vs a 256 GB SSD - replacing the stock 5400 RPM hard drive...

Has anyone seen any threads/reviews on benchmarks of this type in relation to run time on the battery...

Battery life is dependent on many factors beyond the type of drive used. In addition, some 7200 rpm drives use less power than some 5400 drives, and vice-versa. Benchmarks won't be useful unless they're performed on the exact equipment you're considering, using them exactly the way you would use them.
