I made the mistake of preordering Verizon but had second thoughts about losing my AT&T unlimited data, so I ended up with an October 21-28 delivery window when I ordered an AT&T upgrade from Apple.com :( Contemplating trying my luck in store tomorrow, I called Apple and they said it would take 24 hours for them to process the cancellation and reset the upgrade eligibility through AT&T. Has anyone tried it themselves? How long did it take for you to become eligible for an upgrade again?

I cancelled and it seemed to go fast. However, I have no idea what it will be like if everyone is trying to do the same thing,

Did you order from Apple.com or from AT&T? I've heard some claims that it resets faster if you ordered from AT&T directly... Not sure if they're true though.

I just canceled about 10 mins ago through CSR but now apple.com won't let me get past the wireless eligibility screen, I guess it's too early.

Oh damn, you're brave! Heh. I'm SUPER tempted to cancel and go camp out, so be sure to post when your upgrade finally shows up! Hopefully it's soon...

I ordered from att.com and canceled my order earlier today.

Called CSR and she said it may take up to 72 hours...

Few hours later and it still was not pushed through. What I did was contacted live chat online and asked them to reverse the upgrade. The lady kindly did this for me and I checked my status it was reversed IMMEDIATELY!

Try live chat!

Hmmm, that's a great tip, but I'm not sure it applies for me since I ordered from Apple.com... Cancellations of AT&T orders can probably be processed much faster than Apple ones. The live chat reps would have no way to check with Apple to see that I really did cancel my order if Apple takes too long to process it. :(

UPDATE!

I bit the bullet! I cancelled my Apple.com AT&T order, and proceeded to submit upgrade requests roughly seven million times before it reset and gave me discounted upgrade pricing again. I'd say it probably took about 10 minutes from cancellation to showing as eligible again. Hooray!
