All my "friends" are douches, so I've had to some right stick from them lately pointing out that this "BlackBerry PlayBook" can run flash whilst my iPad 2 can't...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STw4zti94iM

They're all die-hard Apple haters, and stuff like this just gives them extra ammo. Rrrrrreeeeeaaalllyyyy p****s me off. Little do they realise that the iPad doesn't need flash because it's got the worlds best App Store! Hater's gonna hate...

Just needed somewhere to vent some of my anger.

PS: That BlackBerry thing is fugly!
PPS: I think they're just jealous because they're all on Windows Vista/7, which let's face it, is a pile of crap compared to SL/Lion.

</rant>

Opinions, opinions.

I played with Playbook yesterday. It's not bad, but UI is a bit awkward.

And IMO, Windows can do a ton of things that OSX can't. And trust me, there's maybe a handful of users on God's green earth who are using Windows and actually jealous of OSX.

So, are you angry because iPad does not have Flash, and trying to justify it by "but hey, we have app store!!! It won't let us enjoy entire web, but I can shoot birds at stuff! Oh you can do too? Damn you!"

U mad bro?

Also, they are your "friends" and not friends? Just because they are using a different piece of technology?

Wow... just wow

Heh, don't let that 'piss you off'. They have what they want, which is essentially a mirrored version of the iPad.. so it would be cynical of them to say they hate Apple :p

Each to their own. I would prefer an iPad 2 any day despite its cons though.

No, course I'm not angry the iPad doesn't have flash! I've had it since April and I've never needed it once :) And no, I'm no referring to silly flash games being replaced by games on the App Store... So no, I ain't mad!

It really does annoy me though :( They let the fact that I love Apple get in the way of our friendships... it's just them constantly flaming me for using a Mac and having an iPad, because they think they're all computer experts...

I'm going to University in September, so maybe I'll find some friends who won't judge me for what OS I use...

Nooo that's not what I meant at all! I personally don't give a ***** what technology you use. They just constantly flame me for using Apple products, and it gets reeeaallyy irritating. They judge me for it... nobbers.

So no, I don't care whether you use Mac OS, Windows, or Linux.

Pffft...

Just open an email on your iPad and ask them if their Playbook can do that on it's own.

Just fire up Netflix and then tell them to get back with you..

PB has some nice hardware but other than that for the time being it's a glorified web browser but PB doesn't have a total lock on flash, android tablets do too so it's not like the PB can brag and say they're the only ones to do flash.

Seriously from a person who at one time thought Apple was crazy for not having flash to really sitting down and looking at my web usage.

The majority of news sites are Safari compliant. I watched a video on cnn the other day that was embedded on the webpage. All the forums I visit work.

The only use I had for flash was watching porn sites :D or watching bootleg movies.

I looked at another PB commercial. The power of the playbook. It starts off showing the Thor trailer, shows a JLo video and then ends with a video of a guy skiing and them saying the PB can run all this at once.

That's nice and fine but really why do I need 3 videos running at once? Yes powerful but not of much use.

Look at the new iPad2 video.Starts off with the WSJ and a video playing from the digital version, goes to a magazine with multimedia, shows a movie, then shows a couple using facetime, online class and then using AR to look at stars.

This is what the other companies don't get. They show there tablets power but not real world use. This is where Apple marketing wins.

It's sad to see that people think of Flash only as "It plays Videos", "There are Flash games" and "I hate flash ads"

There's just so much more to Flash than all that. Entire product catalogs made in that. Hardware demos/simulators, etc. But for that, I would go to a desktop.

As for your friends "flaming" you, just tell them to respect your technology choices. I am a die hard PC user, and do not take Macs seriously. But My friends use Macs and they are happy. And I am happy for them. Most I do is tell them something like "Hey, let's play {some random game} multiplayer. Oh... wait..."

Why can't they be more like you?! :')

I don't mind your post except you bashing Windows 7, I can understand Vista because that was a mess but even Vista after SP1 was a solid OS.

Anyway, Windows 7 is the fastest selling OS of all time and it is a extremely well built OS.

I'm not a "Microsoft Lover" or a "Apple Lover" I think both companies have their ups and downs.

Sorry if I've offended you, how hypocritical of me!

I was very angry at the time I was writing the post (they were at it again over facebook...), so was in a hating mood.

Sorry!

You didn't offend me bro, I was just pointing out that Windows 7 is not a piece of you know what.

Thanks for the apology anyway, but once again you didn't offend me. You have a right to your own opinion and what not.

Also, you just need to stop arguing with your friends about it. Just know you have the superior device and let it end at that, someone once said something like..."Don't argue with fools..."

At the end of the day, BlackBerry (and other manufacturers) compare their tablet to the iPad 2, and try to point out the places that theirs is better. Apple don't need to do this, they created this market.

There's massive faults with the Playbook. Sod all apps, video calling only works between other playbooks and for some of the key features you have to have a blackberry phone linked with it. not to mention the small screen, OS is clunky (no where near as smooth as the advert makes out).

If somebody was to "show off" their playbook to me, I'd quite happily pick up my ipad 2 and laugh.

In RIM's defense, OS is VERY smooth. Just a notch under iOS, I would say. But it's somewhat weird and a bit unintuitive.

It reminds me of a Verizon TV ad that is pushing Android tablets in general. There are three main points that they use to push Android tablets:

1. It runs Flash.

2. It runs movies.

3. It will be upgradeable down the road to LTE.

I have to laugh at that pitiful list. That's all they've got?!

a) I've never once missed Flash on my iPad. If you do, well, point 1 works for you.

b) All tablet run movies. What a strange selling point.

c) Don't tell me what it will be able to do some day. By the time LTE is common, the iPad will run on LTE as well.

They've truly got nothing. Just point your friends to the sales figures for the PlayBook. Oh, right, we have no idea what the sales figures are. Last week RIM announced they had "shipped" 500,000. Ah, the old "shipped" scam. If they're too embarrassed to tell you how many they sold, it ain't much.

Has anyone else seen the new(ish) "BlackBerry PlayBook Flash" advert?

Very clever ad... as an Apple hater I love stuff like this. Very inventive!

Seriously though...

"Little do they realise that the iPad doesn't need flash because it's got the worlds best App Store!"

The Android market allows users to create and publish their own apps straight to market. no costs, no string s, no big fat corporations rubbing their sticky fingers together at another way to charge developers to get their apps to market. Unfortunately for Apple this means a shed load of apps that work poorly, or constantly need updating to work but they don't mind, as long as people are paying to download them they get their percentage!
Apple won't allow flash purely becasue it enables people to create their own apps outside of the app store!

Yeh ipads run movies! To run a movie you have to convert it to shittime or something similar. Add to shitunes then synch to get it on there. Android, click on shared folder, drag movie to folder, play.

"PS: That BlackBerry thing is fugly!"

hahahahahahaha excellent. You have just lended weight to the argument that Apple lovers would prefer to own something because it looks pretty even if it doesn't work as well as anything else on the market!

Form follows function people, not the other way around!

Baby's first troll steps.

Noticed the adverts on the TV in the UK. Had a chuckle at it. As usual though, the majority of viewers will miss the point. The tablet device in the general public view already has the name iPad. Like personal stereos were Walkmans.

They've started to advertise it on billboards with the tag 'Yeah, you should have waited'

Oh, the irony considering it is RIM who should have waited until they could get email functionality onto this device.

I don't know how it's selling in the UK, but in the U.S. it is considered a market failure.
