I did a search couldn't find one that matched. I've been using my Powerbook for about four years now and have never had this happen. The whole screen flashed over gray and this was pictured. Any thoughts?

It is called a Kernel Panic, there will be so many posts about this on here. It is most likely a random glitch but if it keeps happening it is a sign of hardware failure.

You get that when an install doesn't go quite as planned. Or something changed some little bit of software that OSX thinks it needs to run.

You can also get it when you install YDL Linux and It decides not to start.

If you still have OS9 it will throw up a simular screen when there is an extension conflict.

Try safe mode start up. (hold the shift key down when starting up from the 'Bong!):apple:
