Just got my 4 replaced and the replacement is scratched all over the band. Looks like someone before me used a bumper on it. And Apple decided to try rubbing them off with the smudges....haha.

It doesn't bother me, but Im just curious if anyone else has experienced this?

I've never received a replacement from Apple that looked anything but brand new.

The refurbished iPhone 3G I originally got from AT&T on the other hand ...

Take it back, the replacements shouldn't look like that. It sounds like they've given you a lemon.

Nope, I hate going to the Apple store. Especially when the workers are 18-20.

It doesn't bother me. Serial starts with 5K so i'm sure it's a refurb.

What is the manufacture date of your refurb.

I just received mine, serial began with a J, and the build was week 9 of 2011. Not sure if that's when it was refurb'd, or if it is indeed new.

Phone looks brand new.

weird. all iphone replacements have new parts (the ones we touch) [Home Button,Screen,Buttons,Back, etc] the only thing they reuse are internal memory and stuff

i'm sure they hate you too then, with that attitude.

let me guess, you're one of those people that really hates the younger generation for no reason?

I can assure you this is not new parts. The sides have scratches. Faint ones that look like a bumper did it. I can't get a good picture because my only cameras are my phone and the 3G

Not at all. Nothing wrong with the younger generation. I don't like the workers that are 18-20 at the apple store I go too is what I meant. They aren't very good at there job.

I received a replacement 3gs once that had a few scratches on the screen right out of the box. I showed it to the employee who gladly took it back and gave me a new one.
