Has anyone successfully charged/used the 08 Apple Bluetooth Earpiece on the iPhone 4?

Here is my problem: I currently have an iPhone 4 and the old/discontinued minimalistic black designed Bluetooth earpiece made by Apple. The phone and bluetooth earpiece works fine. However, it won't charge once plugged in with the phone. The phone charges fine but, the bluetooth earpiece battery icon doesn't show pop up as charged?

Anyone using this earpiece still successfully with the iPhone 4? it worked fine on my 3G.

I searched and searched google for a good 10 minutes. Then right after posting, I saw this on apple discussion.

was moving the other day and came across my apple bt earpiece, so i decided to try and charge it and see if it still worked, it did, but i never got the charge indicator on the lockscreen, but it did show as fully charged up by the battery indicator...
