I was curious if anyone had done this. I love the 16" MacBook Pro I have, but I honestly don't know if I need something this large. I have a 27" iMac that I do all of my heavy work on and the 16" just isn't something that is portable enough (for me, I don't think). I do mainly light photo and video editing on the go but do use my laptop a lot for work when I travel, which is picking back up again. It would be nice to have something that is really more portable, but I don't want to miss my 16" if its going to be a major change. I realize the screen size is going to obviously be smaller and I think I'm ok with that, but other than that I don't think performance wise I'll be missing much.

Has anyone done this? Since the change to the magic keyboard I've been debating this. Has battery life been a big change? I get great battery life on my 16" now and don't want to take too huge of a hit going to the 13". If anyone has any thoughts on this I'd love to hear it.

I’ve gone back to my 2017 13” nTB

some stuff in Xcode definitely takes a bit longer. Battery life is the same. It’s not has hot. Fans are about equal.

I still have the 2018 13".

When driving my external 34" 5K monitor, the 16" is nicer.

When running certain audio software like REW, the 16" is far faster and smoother.

When browsing websites, the 16" loads faster and is snappier.

And for my programming tasks in Xcode and Visual Studio Code, the 16" is more than twice as fast as the 13" in everything.

Battery life is about the same. The 16" doesn't get much hotter.

The 13" is far more portable, sure, but I find myself missing the screen of the 16" in many occasions so the 16" is here to stay and I may sell the 13" soon.

Thank you, very good points. I purchased a MacBook Air for my daughter for the upcoming school year and there is no way I could use a device that small comfortably on my lap. I'm glad I didn't do anything stupid and sell my 16" for a 13".

I have the 16" and used to own the 13". I love the 13" size but this 16" is so much better to be productive on. I totally agree it is large to travel with, and I was getting a bit tired of lugging it around, but once it is on the desk, all is forgiven.

Having said all that if I had a 27" iMac I would just have the 13"...... and tbh is something I am very tempted to do once [if] the 14"comes out

Digital Nomad here. Been using 13" variants forever. Hardly even use my desk setups..when I'm parked at one with dual screens, etc.

Been using my 16 for a bit now and while I'm traveling less, for sure, I like the extra screen real estate these days. It's not just a -mere- 3 inches on paper. I like
