I really want to update but I want to know who my 1.2 should handle the beta and if it's too buggy, any inputs would help.

Install it on a different partition, that way you can just reboot if it becomes to buggy.
And you'll have access to your data ok the main partition.

A white MacBook is significantly older than what the OP is talkingn about.

Currently using it on my 12" MacBook and it's running just fine. The battery life has taken a hit, but that's about it.
