Has anyone tried inserting an iPhone 4 into an iPhone 3 Dock?

It depends on the dock or its adapter. The connector is the same.

The actual dock that sits on a flat surface. Reason I ask is I have an iPhone 3 dock and a iPod/Surround sound which the iPhone 3 sits on top. I think initially it was only for an iPod but it works fine just get that accessory message pop up that asks me to go into airplane mode.

my iphone 3gs dock does not work with iphone 4.
