I want to upgrade my dad from his HTC One M7 to an iPhone 6s without him losing anything. Problem is he's in a different state (geographically speaking). In the past I was able to use HTC's migration tool to go from one HTC to another without any issues; the software was reliable enough that he could run it and get everything.

Has anyone actually used this new app going from Android to iOS and have it work without any issues? I can't seem to find much information about it.

What all did it transfer? And more importantly, would someone that's not very technically inclined be able to run this?

Just used it last week on Mrs phone, note 4 to iphone 6s.

It transferred sms, contact, pics and videos and even put over 10000 sms in thread neatly.
Took about 40 mins, easy enough to use.
Download the app on android, make sure to be on same wifi, enter the code given on android app on iphone and voila.

Forgot to add, it did add email accounts too.

Nice, that's good to know. Thanks! Still deciding if I should have him try it or if I should just do it myself and ship the phones back to him.

It worked perfectly for the wife on her Samsung S4 mini, but I tried it on my HTC One M7 and it crashes as soon as I enter the code. Every single time.

Was the M7 updated to Lollipop?

Yes, it's running Lollipop 5.0.2 with the most recent version of the Move to iOS app as well.

Lots of reviewers on the Play store are saying that the same thing happens (although you might struggle to find them in amongst all the 1 star reviews left by Apple haters).

That stinks. I'm sure my dad has never installed an update since I gave him the phone, so maybe I'll try the app if he's still on KitKat. Not sure what HTC did differently.

I meant the comments on the reviews were just about it crashing in general, not specifically on HTC phones. I gave up on it in the end, but the crashing may be caused by something incompatible that I installed rather than anything HTC has done. I am thinking Cerberus for example.

Ah ok. I did see in the comments when filtered for the HTC One that others had issues with it also. I'll just try it and see what happens. Thanks for your help!

Well just to update this... I finally tried it on my dad's HTC One M7 and it moved everything over perfectly to his new iPhone. Super smooth transition!
