Has Anyone Tried This 4S Unlock Method?

don't pay for anything. sigh.
try ultrasn0w from cydia.

edit: looks a bit ..odd to me. sounds more like a bug according to the website you posted
 
What do you mean "don't pay for anything"?

As far as I know, there's no unlock solution for the 4S or 4s with whatever updated basebands. It's definitely a bug but it seems to work towards letting you use an alternate carrier, just as an unlock would.

sorry read as 4. there's no jailbreak for the 4s so no software unlock.

you really shouldn't be paying for unlocks, jailbreaks etc. (i overlooked the site before posted this, but still relevant).
I'd imagine that bug would be patched pretty soon, and as it is a bug, i don't think it'll be very reliable. not something i'd do with my main phone to be honest

Um, you didn't click the link (which isn't a TL: DR type of article, it has a video and an 18 step list to do the hack) but felt the need to "contribute" to this discussion. Wtf...:confused:

well that didn't add much to your topic did it either? Why don't you just give it a try, it appears no one else has tried it. Be the guinea pig.
 
I have a couple t-mobile & simple mobile sims that are active I can try out in a few hours.

From reading through the comments, it looks like it works sometimes with the 4S but not on the iPhone 4.

I have my iPhone 4S with me today, if there is an extra iPhone 4 at my shop I will try that too & report back tonight.

Does not work on Verizon 4S because it defaults to CDMA when you remove the sim.

Very cool. I'm looking forward to seeing if it works for you.
I'm going overseas next month and would love to be able to use my 4S. For now, I don't have an alternate SIM card to try out myself.

I tried with an active simple mobile sim & I tried my active AT&T sim card in the Verizon phone. None of them seemed to work. If there is any truth to the bug, I couldn't replicate it.

Ah, bummer. Thanks for the thorough testing. If the bug or exploit exists, maybe the jailbreak team will be able to take advantage of it.
 
unlock

hi bought my 4s yesterday and I asked to unlock it to other carriers. It's 29 hours later now, and my phone is still locked. They said that they sent some code to apple to unlock it. So how will I know that my phone is unlocked now and I can use it with other carriers. thank you

Why don't you ask whoever "they" are? Why are you asking us?
