Does it work with 3G? I'm looking for a simple dock that will charge the 3G even if the computer is not powered (unlike the Apple 3G dock). Open to any other suggestions. Thanks.

The Apple 3G one will if you plug the USB end into the AC charger block that the phone comes with. Or you can buy a spare charger brick off eBay for $3 shipped.
