has anyone tried to connect Airport Express to Linksys WRT116n?

Linksys WRT116n is my existing network, and now I need to extend it with an airport express wirelessly? I realize Apple said that "
AirPort Express can extend the range only of an AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express wireless network." but I know some people successfully connect the Airport Express to other routers. but I'm not sure with Linksys WRT116n.
