Has anyone tried to pair Google Nest or Amazon devices to HomeKit yet? Matter released on iOS 16.1 today. I can't get anything to get recognized by HomeKit.

Are those Amazon devices confirmed to have matter support? It’s not automatic

So far, matter is useless until Google and Amazon update the device software.

That's what sucks about these "open standards" that keep coming about. They all depend on companies to update their software. Companies that have a vested interest in keeping you on their platform. As long as this sort of greed persists we're always going to have a fragmented IoT experience.

There are not many Matter compatible devices out yet, a few companies like Eve have done s/w updates to some of their existing products to make them Matter compatible, and released some new devices which are Matter compliant but from what I have read, most older products will not be upgradable to Matter compatibility, have to buy new products again! Or use Homebridge to bring those Non Homekit compatible devices into HomeKit.
