Am ordering Imac soon and was talking to Customer support about moving itunes over from my 10.4.11 which now uses itunes 9 not 10 and she told me it would not just move over to 10.6 or 10.7 without going through an ipod. My ipod was damaged beyond repair and we got another older one which will not sync with my 10.4 mac to be able to load my itunes library onto it. Was thinking when I got new imac, itunes would just come over and now be in new itunes so I could load it onto my ipod. Now, I'm not sure how I will get my itunes from my current mac. Any thoughts?

You do NOT need to use iPod to transfer.
Get ethernet cable. Use Migration Assistant to transfer your whole user folder (including iTunes playlists and songs) from old mac to new mac.

thanks very much. That looks like it will work. I guess not all of the phone support persons know as much about their products as one would think they should.
