has anyone using the Apple new 20-watt USB-C charger noticed extremely hot iPhone 12 Pro during the first half hour of charging?

After several days of this, I used a contactless thermometer and got almost 178 degrees on the back of the phone. It does eventually "cool" down to just 110 to 120 during the remaining hour and half... after it sits around for about half an hour after reaching 100%, the temperature goes to around 82... (room temperature 78-ish) This is charging without a case.

For comparison, when I make tea, I usually select 195 degrees on the electric kettle. By the time I throw the tea bag in there and wait for it to brew, the water temperature is less than 160. (measured with the same thermometer)

I also tried with the 5-watt charger that came with the iPhone SE(2020) that I bought earlier this month. With the 5-watt charging the iPhone Pro 12, the back temperature never goes over 117 degrees.

So... is the high temperature normal for using the Apple 20-watt charger to fast charge the iPhone 12 Pro? Or is there any cause for concern? I did sign up for AppleCare+ just in case. :)
