I'm new to the Apple M series and I have been seeing that Apple has issues in the M1 laptops, in fact theres 2 law suits out there?
So I was wondering if the M2 laptops have better screens now?

Lots of complaints about the M1 MBA screen cracking; seen very few in comparison about the M2.

Given that the M3 MBA will likely be released soon, you may want to hold off, in any case!

Law suit against Apple?! Well there must be a problem… or greedy lawyers. You will always find someone complaining about Apple. The reality is if there were serious problems with the design Apple wouldn’t have used it for so many years and you’d hear a LOT more about it. I have owned several m1’s with no screen issue. Do like the M2 as well. The only legit 100% issue is the number of external screens allowed, and that’s the same for M1 and M2.

The only legit 100% issue

You need to read the many accounts by people who've experienced the spontaneous screen cracking on their 13” M1 MBAs. You can find threads here on MR about it and many more all around the net.

It is an issue and a legitimate one. Sure, it may not happen often, but it is a reality and many buyers have also been disappointed by Apple's poor response and lack of concern about it.

The problem arose with the M1 MBAs — and its design wasn't used for “many years” but about 2. The redesign of the 13” M2 MBA was a dramatic change… likely, in part, to fix the issue.

I had a problem with my M1 Air screen. It didn't crack (that I could see) but was getting flakey when moving the screen resulting in some flickering. There were no visible cracks.

The machine was under warranty and I went to the Apple Store to get it repaired. I was told warranty did not cover accidental damage. That sort of tripped my aggravation toggle. I stood my ground and the salesperson/tech would not budge on the repair.

I asked to see the store manager. When the manager arrived he was also adamant the issue was not warranty related. I stood my ground on my position it was a warranty issue. The repair cost was going to be $500.00. I was able strike a deal with the store manager where they would give me full value on my M1 Air (4 months old), then charge me $500.00 for a M2 Air with 16 gig and 1TB. My veteran discount was also applied. Seemed like a good deal. The cost to repair, or upgrade, was the same.

Nice. Good deal!

Sorry, I think you need to figure out the difference between a few people who may or may not have had spontaneous screen cracking (I tried that once as a kid, no I didnt break the window, honest, it broke on its own).. with the much larger number of people who have experienced zero problem.

Whenever I see sporadic complaints in areas designed to collect complaints, I decide to go with the numbers in my purchase decisions and I have never had a problem.

Nice try, but no cigar!

You clearly haven't read the reports, articles, and user experiences about this or you wouldn't characterize it as “a few people” — or questioned their veracity! (“May or may not have had”! ❌ 👎🏽 And, worse, equated adult users who've had this happen with lying children! 🔥 ‼️)

Many people have had this issue — there's no disputing that. For sure, it's a small percentage of owners, but that doesn't mean it's not a real problem. If you look at the threads here on this issue, you'll see I've repeatedly made that very point. (Even in what you quoted, I noted that it may not often happen — but is still an issue.)

Yes, we should distinguish between small numbers or proportions and large ones — i.e., few or many vs. most — as I have — but you need to “figure out” that just because something happens to only a small percentage of people (even a few) doesn't mean they are liars or making things up!

There are many examples in the world of medicine, environmental science, politics, education, computing devices, etc. where the experiences of a few or of many, but not most, still turn out to reflect real problems. The stage light problem on the old MacBook Pros comes to mind. The fraying of the original MagSafe cable is another. The problem with the home button on certwin iPhone models, too. And so on, and so forth. Take your pick from a host of recent problems as well!

After your discounting the experiences of small numbers (which are far larger than you realize), I had to laugh over your conclusion

I have never had a problem

🙈 ‼️ 😁

An anecdotal N of 1 doesn’t refute the reality that many others have experienced those very problems!
